Simple SPA Day at Home

I am so excited to be sharing with you some of my favorite summer skin care/detox elements that I use on days when I want to pamper myself at home. I picked my three absolute favorite ingredients and even added a bonus section at the end with other blog links to awesome DIY home spa ideas. 

Have a Face Mask you love

I was on the market for a good, pore cleaning mask with all natural ingredients that would leave me feeling refreshed and clean. I tend to have occasional acne; I have  rather oily skin (especially in the T zone) and to make matters worse, it tends to be on the sensitive side. Needless to say, I am extra careful of what I put on my skin. Add to this the humid climate in which I live, the oils of my skin just tend to duplicate. 

In comes the "love lettuce" fresh face mask from Lush. 

How can I describe how in love I am with this mask without it sounding weird? I don't know about you, but nothing says "spa" to me more than a good mask, especially if it looks green like the one I use. It feels fancy, refreshing and it actually does what it promises to do for a great price. This mask is so fresh that it has a lifespan of about three weeks or a month and has to be kept refrigerated. 

Have a do-it-all natural ingredient

So if there was nothing left on this earth except for two things, I would probably choose peanut butter and coconut oil. Peanut butter for obvious reasons and coconut oil because this one ingredient takes care of so many needs all at once. 

I use coconut oil: to cook and to make smoothies, to shave, to remove my eye makeup, as a skin and hair moisturizer, for foot therapy, as massage oil and many other uses that I will discover along the way. 

This may sound as a homemade, grandma trick but honestly, I've been using coconut oil for years now and I am so happy with it. Any other coconut oil fanatics out there? So next time you have a spa at home, pull out your organic coconut oil jar and use it on pretty much everything!  

Have a Natural Drink

No spa is completed without a great, relaxing drink. I am a firm believer in all the great properties of green tea and an avid drinker. So I decided to share my summer spa drink recipe with you. 

♥ Green Tea Lemon and Cucumber Refresher 
1 green tea bag
1 3/4 cup of water 
3 slices of cucumber
1 spoon of lemon juice
organic honey or brown raw sugar to your taste
1 leaf of mint (my tea mix already has mint but fresh mint will give a nice kick)
Ice cubes

Brew the tea in the water, add all the ingredients, then mix all of the ingredients and when you are ready to serve add the ice cubes. 

I make jars of it and it keeps me hydrated while helping me stack up on antioxidants  and just overall adding another level of freshness to my homemade spa.
